Their scientific research at the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems (Fraunhofer ISE) ultimately gave birth to a bold idea: to develop novel monitoring and control systems tailored to the needs of small to medium-sized companies.
The three founders, Pascal Benoit, Simon Fey and Hendrik Klosterkemper, brought this idea to market maturity and founded ENIT Systems in 2014 – bringing to the new company all the expertise gained at the Fraunhofer ISE.
The spin-off brings added value to the research institute. The company’s activities start with product development and cover all production steps as well as the servicing and operation of the systems in the field
ENIT Systems has received several awards and honours for its future-oriented approach and has rapidly established itself on the market. The team at the head office in Freiburg currently consists of 20 employees, 16 of whom are engineers.
Hendrik Klosterkemper (CEO) previously worked with the management consultancy Boston Consulting Group for three years. Pascal Benoit (CTO) is an electrical and information technology engineer and has been conducting research since 2010 in communication and control systems for renewable energy systems. Simon Fey is a specialist in communication architectures and Smart Grid protocols. Kai Klapdor (CFO), the fourth member of the company’s management team, gained professional experience as an energy consultant with Becker Büttner Held Consulting AG.
Other partners are the employees of the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems Prof. Dr. Christof Wittwer (Department Head “Intelligent Energy Systems”), Dr. Robert Kohrs (Group Leader “Smart Grid Technology”) and Stefan Feuerhahn (Team Leader and developer of OpenMUC).
